Pete the purple squirrel is an animal that had been seen quite a lot throughout 2008. Teachers and students noticed the animal on the grounds of Meoncross School in Stubbington, Hampshire, England. People like TV animal expert Chris Packham believes that Pete might have just been prowling for food, chewed on an old ink cartridge and then groomed himself, spreading the color all over his body. Another theory is that he was dyed by someone so he can easily be found while being used for a study. However people that have seen the squirrel more than once disagree, saying the purple goes all the way through and cannot be dye - even saying when he was first sighted, he was blue and slowly turned to the shade of purple in the photo.
